Governor calls for translating scriptures of all religions in different languages

BANGALORE: The Governor, T.N. Chaturvedi, on Monday called for translating the scriptures of all religions into different languages.

Mr. Chaturvedi was speaking after releasing the Kannada translation of the Koran at the Raj Bhavan here.

The translation was done by Mohammed Yusuf, a journalist from Mangalore.

The translated version of the Koran also contains the original text in Arabic.

Scriptures of any religion are for the entire mankind and its essence should be made available to one and all, the Governor said.

The Governor said that people in the world spoke different languages.

To remove doubts that they may encounter while reading the translated versions the original text should also be provided. This will help them understand the message better, he said.

He expressed happiness at the effort of the Ahmadiyya Movement in Islam in translating the Koran in 100 languages along with the Arabic text.

Moulana Kareemuddin Saheb Shahed, Head of Wakfe Jadeed (Bairoon); Hafiz Saleh Mohammed Alladin Saheb, retired Head of the Department of Astrophysics, Osmania University; and M. Shafiualla, president, Muslim Jama`at Ahmadiyya, Karnataka and Goa, spoke.

All the three said that their religious teacher Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad said that the Koran accepted Rama, Krishna, the Buddha, Zarathustra, Confucius and others from different regions of the world as messengers of God and all of them spread the message of love and affection.

They said that the Ahmadiyya community was founded by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad in 1889.

It is a reformed and enlightened sect adhering to the most secular Islamic ideologies and beliefs.

They said that the Ahmadiyya movement, which has over 20 crore followers all over the world, condemns violence and preaches love and brotherhood.
