Water level

MADURAI: The level in the Periyar dam on Monday stood at 112.5 feet with an inflow and discharge of 130 cusecs. The Vaigai dam level was 30.61 feet with an inflow of 58 cusecs and a discharge of 41cusecs. The Periyar combined credit stood at 1,619 mcft. The Manjalar dam received 5 mm of rainfall.

25 arrested for staging road roko

The Othakadai police arrested 25 persons, including five women, for staging a road blockade on the Madurai-Melur National Highway near here on Monday.

The police said the agitators of Malaichamipuram were demanding action against a woman sub-inspector who had allegedly used "unparliamentary" words against them. Those arrested were remanded to judicial custody.

Yoga centre anniversary

The Yoga Centre of the Madura College celebrated its second anniversary on Sunday.

V. Sivakumar, Principal, Madura College, launched a certificate courses in Yoga Education and Yoga Therapy.

To mark the occasion, books on `Yoga Therapy' authored by V. Saravanan, Yoga Therapist, and `Indiyarai Sudarvidum Mangaiyar Thilagangal' written by Professor P. Rengasamy were released by S. Muthusamy, president, Madura College Board and Professor S. Jeyaprakasam, respectively.

Karamchand Nallusamy, freedom fighter, S. Gopalan, vice-chairman, Indian Philosophical Congress, and R. Murali, Head, Department of Philosophy, participated.

Last date for revaluation

The Directorate of Distance Education of Madurai Kamaraj University has announced May 27 as the last date for applying for direct revaluation of answer scripts by candidates, who appeared for MBA, MCA, M. Phil. and M.Sc. physics/chemistry non-semester examinations in February.

They can apply for direct revaluation in Form-C along with a photocopy of the statement of marks or marks obtained through the website A fee of Rs.225 per paper has to be remitted on or before May 27, a press release from the DDE said.

If the candidates desire to apply for revaluation after obtaining transparency of answer papers, they can apply for transparency by remitting Rs.225 before May 27. Later, they can apply for revaluation on or before June 6 by remitting Rs.225 per paper. — Staff Reporter
