ALAPPUZHA: The Congress leader V.M. Sudheeran has asked the Government to ensure transparency before implementing the Smart City project. Inaugurating the 25the anniversary of the Alappuzha PWD Workers and General Workers Congress, affiliated to the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), and a meeting organised to felicitate Thudiyil Varghese, one of the founders of the INTUC in the State, here on Monday evening, Mr. Sudheeran said criticisms and controversies arose wherever there was lack of transparency. The Government should publicise the full details of the Smart City project and take the public into confidence. It should convene a meeting of political parties and explain the project. The public should get a complete picture of the project it. ``The Government should reserve the right to confiscate the land being given for the Smart City if the promoters are unable to provide the promised jobs,'' Mr. Sudheeran said. However, Mr. Sudheeran said the MLAs who raised allegations against the Government did not have any credibility. The aim of D. Sugathan, MLA, is not to protect the interest of the public. Commenting on the formation of the National Congress (Indira), Mr. Sudheeran said those who did not believe in the leadership of Sonia Gandhi should leave the party after resigning their positions.
