NEW DELHI: The chairman of the All-India Bar Association, Adish C. Aggarwala, has been appointed Additional Advocate-General of Uttar Pradesh. He is also the vice-chairman of the Bar Council of India. Speaking to The Hindu after assuming charge, Mr. Aggarwala said the AIBA had appealed to the Centre and the Chief Justice of India to deal with the backlog of cases across the country expeditiously. He urged Union Law Minister H.R. Bhardwaj to expedite the process of filling up vacancies of Judges in High Courts. He pointed out that the process of filling vacancies of Judges should commence at least six months prior to the date of retirement of a Judge.
