Orissa shocks Haryana

GURGAON: Orissa shocked Haryana 2-0 in a group `A' league match of the inter-State men's tennis championship at the NTA Complex here on Tuesday.

Andhra Pradesh, however, will hold the edge in the group to make the knock-out phase as one of three teams in each group will qualify for the semifinals after the league phase.

The results:

Group A: Andhra Pradesh bt Haryana 2-0 (Mohammed Yasser Arafar bt Yogesh Phogat 6-4, 6-4; Vishnu Vardhan bt Jitin Bishnoi 6-3, 6-2); Orissa bt Haryana 2-0 (Satirtha bt Yogesh Phogat 2-6, 6-2, 6-0; Ajay Nishank bt Jitin Bishnoi 6-4, 2-6, 6-4).

Group B: Uttaranchal bt Bihar 2-0 (Pradeep bt Amit 6-0, 6-2; Varun Walia bt Rajan Kumar 6-2, 6-0); Tamil Nadu bt Bihar 2-0 (M. Fariz bt Nadim Ahmad 6-3, 6-1; Vijay Sundar bt Rajan Kumar 6-1, 6-1).

Group C: Uttar Pradesh bt Rajasthan 2-1 (Sumit Prakash Gupta bt Rohit Choudhary 6-0, 6-2; Rishi Sharma lost to Sandeep Choudhary 0-6, 2-6; Sumit/Rishi bt Sandeep/Rohit 7-6(6), 6-0).

Group D: Punjab bt Assam 2-0 (Tushar Sharma bt Abhinav Bora 6-4, 6-0; Gursharan Singh bt Chandrasehkar Mohanty 7-5, 4-6, 6-4).
