Some promises not kept: Jakkampudi
Staff Reporter
RAJAHMUNDRY:
The Minister for Roads and Buildings, Jakkampudi Ramamohana Rao, admitted on Tuesday that the Congress Government had failed to keep some of the promises they made when it came to power last year.
Addressing a press conference, he listed the Government's achievements and also its failures. He said that they had failed to begin even preliminary work on the ship-breaking unit in Kakinada, dedicated channel for sewerage water, industrial estate in Rajahmundry and Rajiv Varadhi -- second road bridge on the Godavari.
The Minister said that when they had taken the initiative for the ship-breaking unit, there was no consensus on the issue among political parties and the Opposition and a few Congress MLAs had opposed the proposal. The Minister said that the proposed Rajahmundry Urban Development Authority would be formed soon.
