VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) is planning to construct 14 sub-stations in the district at an estimated outlay of Rs. 14 crores in the current financial year. It would also complete the six sub-stations, which were sanctioned last year. With this, the number of 33/11 kv sub-stations in the district will go up to 120 in the district. Plans are afoot to provide electricity to 204 weaker section colonies by spending Rs. 2.44 crores and to provide high voltage distribution system (HVDS) under the Vissannapet and Korlamanda sub-stations at an expected outlay of Rs. 4.24 crores. Addressing a press conference here, the superintending engineer of the SPDCL, M. Ramanjaneyulu, said that the Vijayawada circle had recorded Rs. 445.8 crores demand and revenue of Rs 438.59 crores in the last financial year. Referring to the transmission losses and transformer failures, Mr. Ramanjaneyulu said that the transmission losses had come down from 19.16 per cent to 18.21 per cent last year. Transformer failures had come down from 7.2 to 6.5 per cent. On the agriculture sector, he said they had supplied 358.6 million units of power to 48,159 farm connections last year.
