Celebrations

NEW DELHI: The 75th birthday of Satguru Swami Haridas Ramji Maharaj will be celebrated in Puri, Orissa, from May 18 to 22 under the auspices of the Head of Prem Prakash Mandal, Swami Bhagat Prakashji Maharaj.

Many saints and followers of the Prem Prakash Mandal will participate in the celebrations, according to the organisers.

Upgraded exchange

NEW DELHI: From 3 p.m. this Wednesday, nearly 750 telephone numbers of the Nirman Bhavan exchange beginning with codes 2301, 23792, 23793 and 23794 will be transferred to the upgraded exchange at Sena Bhavan and have new codes 23061, 23062 and 23062. In case of any difficulty, subscribers can contact 23011000 and 23792000.

Power cuts

NEW DELHI: For the commissioning of a 200-KV Geeta Colony sub-station in East Delhi, the 220 KV Mandola-Patparganj double-circuit line passing through this sub-station will remain shut From May 15 to May 25.

Though Transco has taken all measures to ensure uninterrupted supply to areas fed by the line, areas like Sarita Vihar, Lodi Road, Defence Colony, South Extension, Lajpat Nagar, Nizamuddin, Kilokri, Patparganj, Geeta Colony, Preet Vihar, Shahdara, Seelampur, Connaugth Place, Minto Road, Town Hall, Lahori Gate and Kamla Market could face power cuts during this period.

Water supply

NEW DELHI: Due to repair work on the main pipeline near Ranney well No.A-4 Palla Marginal Bandh, water supply will remain affected on Wednesday evening at many village in North-West Delhi, including Bakhtawarpur, Jhangola, Mohammadpur, Ramianpur, Tajpur, Akbarpur, besides all colonies of Narela, Metro Vihar Phase I and II, and villages falling in Holambi Kalan area. In case of an emergency, consumers can ask for water tankers by ringing up 27700789 and 27700474.

Book on VAT

NEW DELHI: A book titled "How to Deal with VAT'' written by business expert Kul Bhushan was launched here over the weekend.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bhushan observed that lack of information together with wrong information had proved to be a major stumbling block for the new tax regime.

Sanskrit scholar

NEW DELHI: Noted Sanskrit scholar Prabhudalayu Agnihotri was awarded the Ramkrishna Jaidayal Dalmia Shreevani Alankaran-2004 for his book "Abhinava-Manovijnanam'' at a function here over the weekend.

A six-member jury headed by Justice Rangnath Mishra has chosen Dr. Angihotri for the award. The award carries Rs. 2 lakhs in cash, a citation and a statue of Goddess Saraswati.
