Water level

MADURAI: The water level in the Periyar dam on Tuesday stood at 112.5 feet. The level in the Vaigai dam was 30.58 feet.

`Prize for good governance'

The victory of the ruling party candidates in the Kancheepuram and Gummidipoondi byelections is a "prize for good governance" of the All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Government, the All India Forward Bloc's State general secretary, L. Santhanam, said on Monday.

In a statement issued here, he said the bypoll results were a clear indication that the voters had faith in the Chief Minister.
