Power cut

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended on Thursday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. for maintenance work in GK Industrial Estate, Alapakkam Road and Arcot Road in Valasaravakkam area.

New premises

Area I Office of Metrowater, will be shifted from Kodungaiyur to 4/1, Rathinasabapathi Street, Tondiarpet from May 20. Consumers can contact the new address for matters relating to water supply and sewerage in Area I.

Energy theft

The Chennai Enforcement Division of the Electricity Board detected a case of theft of energy at a commercial unit in Valasaravakkam. The provisional assessment of the loss to the Board amounted to Rs. 1.05 lakh which will be collected in instalments. The person concerned remitted Rs. 70,000 to the Board in lieu of criminal proceedings, a press release said. Receipt book misplaced

The Korukkupet Section of the Electricity Board said that it has misplaced a pre-receipt book (no. 01DD-2318) containing 200 folios with serial numbers 463401 to 463600. Information on the missing book may be given to the Korukkupet section on Tel: 2592 0386.

Saplings planted

About 125 saplings with tree guards were planted in Ram Nagar North, Madipakkam, by members of Lions Club of Keelkattalai and GE Money. T.S. Gokilan, Governor of Lions District 324 A6, lauded the efforts of the Club and GE Money who donated the tree guards worth about Rs. 60,000.

Painting workshop

Sri Annai Kamakshi Kalai Kudam will conduct a five-day workshop on painting from May 25 at its Vadapalani centre. The subjects of the workshop would be oil-painting, acrylic-painting, knife- painting, line art, glass-painting, water-painting, pot-painting and poster colour. Jewellery recovered, three held

Vepery police arrested three men and recovered gold jewellery weighing 140 sovereigns, silver articles weighing 300 grams, three cellular phones and with Rs. 55,000 in cash on Monday. G. Karthigeyan, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Kilpauk, said a special party made the arrest at Vepery following a tip off.

The arrested were identified as Solomon (30) of Ambattur, Ramu (30) of Sivaganga and Ayyambalam (30) of Tuticorin.

The three were remanded to judicial custody.

Cats rescued

Fire and Rescue Service personnel on Tuesday rescued two cats trapped in a 10-foot pit at an apartment complex in Shenoy Nagar.
