HYDERABAD: Three persons, including a former assistant of Greyhounds hospital, who allegedly extorted money from people by posing as naxalites, were arrested by the Task Force (Central) team here on Tuesday. A country-made 9 mm pistol, two live rounds, a car and three mobiles were seized from the arrested persons, B. Surender, Shaik Shareef, and Joseph Mathew, the Police Commissioner, V. Dinesh Reddy, said at a press conference. A probe was on to find out from where did the trio procure the weapon. Surender told the police that they collected money from three persons in the areas of Osmania University and Basheerabad police stations last year and Mamnoor of Warangal district this year. Investigation was hampered as victims were not willing to bring their names on record, the Commissioner explained. The trio was picked up near Suresh theatre in Chilkalguda on a tip-off.
