BJP to agitate against Maharashtra projects

Staff Reporter

To take up issue with Central Government

HYDERABAD: The Bharatiya Janata Party has decided to launch an agitation against the construction of small irrigation projects across the Godavari in Maharashtra, which would deprive Telangana of its rightful share of waters.

Review held

At a meeting here on Tuesday to review arrangements for the silver jubilee celebration of formation of the party, the leaders took a serious view of the construction of 12 small projects, which would directly affect the Sriramsagar project.

The State BJP president, N. Indrasena Reddy, wanted the cadre apprised of the seriousness of the situation and prepare them for an agitation.

Mobilise people

The party would not hesitate to mobilise people against the projects, he said.

The party had decided to launch the agitation from next month as the Congress and the Telangana Rashtra Samiti had failed to prevail upon the Maharashtra Government.

The BJP would also take up the issue with the Centre.
