Jam time: A scene at the busy TSR complex in the city Photo: K.R. Deepak
VISAKHAPATNAM: Finding a suitable parking place in the city is quite irksome. With jewellers, malls and banks, all coming up in the busy Dwarakanagar area, it is sometimes easy to do shopping, but difficult to find parking space. The frequent visits of film stars to promote jewellery and the "gold rush'' spurred by them are also contributing to substantial increase in vehicular traffic on the arterial roads in Dwarakanagar and around the RTC Complex. The problem with some of the shopping complexes is that they do not have parking lots of their own. Though some have parking lots, they run out of space soon and it is difficult to accommodate all the shoppers/customers. Besides, people in a hurry generally prefer parking their vehicles in the lot on the road. As a result, taking the vehicle out of it turns out to be a tricky affair.
Adding to confusion
In the scramble for space, autorickshaw drivers add their bit, as witnessed in front of a jewellery shop near TSR Complex. Whatever is the situation, they don't mind stopping bang in the middle of a busy road to pick up a fare. It's also a weakness on the part of weary shoppers to hop onto the next available autorickshaw, notwithstanding the chaos they are causing.
