NEW DELHI: The prime accused in the Khan Market acid attack case here was arrested by the New Delhi police from neighbouring Ghaziabad on Monday. The police said the accused, Rakhi, a resident of 480, Lane. No. 1, Subhash Nagar, Ghaziabad, had along with one Naeem thrown acid on a girl while she was going for duty at Khan Market on April 22. Naeem, who was riding a motorcycle at the time, had been friendly with the girl and wanted to marry her but she had rejected his proposal. Thereafter Naeem along with his brother, Imran Khan, a bad character of Kama Masjid police station, and a friend, Rakhi, allegedly hatched the conspiracy to throw acid on the girl. As per the plan they had attacked the girl at around 9-30 a.m. on April 22. Thereafter while Naeem was arrested on April 26, Imran and Rakhi had been evading arrest. A special team deputed by the New Delhi district police at Ghaziabad received information on Monday that Imran and Rakhi would reach Gokhna More on Meerut Road to shift from their rented house. But when the police team rushed to the spot, Imran fired at Constable Harender and fled on a motorcycle. Rakhi was, however, arrested from her parental house. She is now being interrogated by the police for information about the whereabouts of Imran, who is still at large.
