KOLKATA: Twelve persons were killed when thundershowers lashed large parts of West Bengal on Tuesday evening. Five among them were electrocuted when lightning struck, according to information reaching the State administration here on Wednesday. Six deaths were reported from Birbhum and Murshidabad districts in south Bengal. They include three children who were crushed under a wall of a `madrassa' when it collapsed in the heavy rain. The children had taken shelter in the madrassa. Three persons were killed when a tree, uprooted in the storm, fell on them in Murshidabad district, according to district officials.
