This Day That Age
India and Pakistan agreed on May 17 to cut their border forces and the arms they carry to prevent frontier incidents, according to a joint communiqué issued at the conclusion of talks between the Home Minister, Pandit Pant and Pakistan's Interior Minister, Maj. Gen. Iskander Mirza. The communiqué said: "Mr. Govind Ballabh Pant and Maj. Gen. Iskander Mirza discussed the prevention of border incidents and maintenance and preservation of shrines and holy places in the two countries. Complete agreement was reached on these issues."
