Jammu & Kashmir
Shujaat Bukhari
SRINAGAR: : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed accused the separatists' leadership of adopting "double standards." While condemning the violence in the State, he asked them to "exhibit moral courage" by raising their voice against atrocities committed against innocent people. Inaugurating a new building of the Regional Passport Office here, Mr. Sayeed said that when there was a mistake by the security forces they [separatists] took to the streets but "when innocents like the four civilians in Dara were killed they kept mum." Is it not a human rights violation?" he asked. (Four civilians were beheaded in Dara locality on Monday night by suspected militants.) He reiterated his party's stand that the resolution of the Kashmir issue needed more time and steps. To a question, the Mufti said he had sought a detailed report from the authorities as to how a "fake passport" was issued to one Amin Baba `divisional commander' of the Hizb-ul Mujahideen who travelled to Pakistan early this month.
