NDPL customer care centre opened

NEW DELHI: NDPL, the Capital's private power distribution company, on Wednesday announced the commissioning of its new consumer care and cash collection centre at Model Town here. The opening of this centre would benefit NDPL consumers living in Model Town who were earlier using the Civil Lines facility for bill payment and resolution of commercial complaints.

The new facility is online and fully networked, facilitating instant availability of data pertaining to all consumers. In addition, there is a token system to avoid queues, a waiting lounge, and separate counters for women and senior citizens.

Water supply cut

NEW DELHI: Because of repairs and maintenance work, water supply will be affected at Palla, Narela, Alipur, Bawana, Holambi Kalan, Ghogha, Sanoth and adjoining areas this Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In case of an emergency, consumers can ask for water tankers by ringing up 27700789, 27464656 or 27677877.

Training for police

NEW DELHI: A two-day special training programme for the Delhi tourist police ended at Old Police Lines here on Wednesday.

Organised jointly by the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) and the Delhi police, the training programme saw tourism experts and senior police officers delivering lectures on good behaviour and how to improve the image of police, types of crimes committed against tourists, harassment of tourists by touts and legal action to be taken by the tourist police.

Astrology Day

NEW DELHI: Presiding over the Annual Day celebrations of the Astrological Society here on Wednesday, Dr. N. P. Seshadri, veteran astro-scientist and Chairman of the National Cultural Organisation, described astrological science as "a great boon to people to lead a correct life".

Dr. Seshadri paid rich tributes to Dr. B. V. Raman, widely known as "Father of Indian astrology", for making the science popular.

Workshop on pollution

NEW DELHI: A two-day national workshop-cum-conference on "Emerging Technology for Controlling Groundwater Pollution: Drinking Water Perspectives" begins at India International Centre here this Thursday.

The Department of Civil Engineering, the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, in association with Search Foundation and Hinge Services is organising the conference.

The Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Kapil Sibal, will inaugurate the conference.
