BANGALORE: Alert public and the police chased and caught a youth, who allegedly snatched a gold chain from a woman in Kamakshipalya police station limits on Wednesday. The police said that around 10.15 a.m., a youth snatched a gold chain from Pushpavathi who was walking near Veeresh cinema. When Pushpavathi raised an alarm, the public and the policemen patrolling the area chased and caught the youth, Nagaraj, of Gokulam in Mysore.
Two killed in accidents
Two persons were killed in road accidents in the city on Tuesday night. Sanjeeva Reddy (26) was killed on the spot when a Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus hit the motorcycle he was riding. He was riding pillion with Chandra Mohan. The accident occurred around 10.30 p.m. on 18th Cross, Margosa Road, Malleswaram, the police said. Reddy, a native of Guntur, was a resident of Hebbal here. Chandra Mohan, who was injured, was admitted to hospital. The Malleswaram traffic police have registered a case. In the other incident, Dasharath (24), a cloth merchant and resident of Chamarajpet, was killed when a sand-laden lorry hit his motorcycle in R.T. Nagar traffic police station limits. Pradeep, who was riding pillion with Dasharath, was injured. The R.T. Nagar traffic police seized the lorry and arrested the driver.
Woman attempts suicide
Sandhya (19) attempted suicide by setting herself on fire at her house in Tilaknagar police station limits around 1 p.m. on Thursday. Sandhya is battling for life at Victoria Hospital, the police said. Sandhya attempted suicide as she had lied to her parents that she scored 90 per cent in II Pre-University examinations, the police said.
