Historic

The passage of a law by the Kuwaiti Parliament granting women the right to vote and run for elections is historic and laudable. It is a momentous occasion for Kuwaiti women who have succeeded in breaking the resistance of tribal and Islamist leaders to the idea of enfranchising women.

J. Praveen,
Hyderabad

It is indeed a historic moment for Kuwait and Kuwaiti women, who have won their right after years of struggle. Kuwaiti women deserve to be congratulated for their perseverance.

At the same time, it is disturbing that there are countries that are yet to enfranchise women. Women in these countries should emulate the Kuwaitis.

G.V.S. Reddy,
Hyderabad
