``Fight for control reflects poorly on religious bodies''

NEW DELHI: : The Supreme Court has deprecated the fight among religious heads to take control of a religious institution.

"It is a sad reflection on the credibility of the religious institutions. Materialistic pursuits increasingly replace divine pursuits, " said a Bench, referring to the Gujarat High Court for fresh adjudication of a dispute over the removal of an Acharya of the Swaminarayan Sampradya, Vadtal Gaddi, by the Satsangha Mahasabha. The dispute pertained to the challenge to a resolution by the Mahasabha to remove Ajendraprasadji Narendraprasadji Pandey
