KASARAGOD: The Manjeswaram MLA, Cherkalam Abdulla, has said that the State Government was able to make significant strides in women empowerment programmes. Speaking at a function organised by the Information and Public Relations Department as part of the observance of the fourth anniversary of the UDF at Manjeswaram near here this morning, he said the Government could successfully spread the operations of the Kudumbashree Mission to 991 panchayats. With the establishment of as many as 1,37,000 more `ayalkoottams' in the State, the Government could include three lakh more families under the ambit of the Kudumbashree project. This has helped the empowerment of women in a huge way, Mr. Cherkalam pointed out.
Infrastructure
The Government has also been able to take long strides in the fields of infrastructure development and information technology during its four-year tenure. The State has been able to become a role model for others, he added. The Manjeswaram Block Panchayat president, Ayishth Thahira, presided over the function.
