Probe sought into platform collapse

Staff Reporter

KOZHIKODE: The City Corporation has demanded that the Central and State Governments order a comprehensive inquiry into the collapse of a portion of the platform constructed as part of the ongoing beautification project on the southern part of Kozhikode beach on Wednesday evening.

A resolution to this effect was adopted at the council meeting here on Thursday. The CPI(M) member P. Divakaran brought the issue to the notice of the council through a calling attention motion. However, it was later converted into a resolution on the suggestion of the Mayor, Thottathil Ravindran, who chaired the session.

Mr. Divakaran said a part of the platform erected at a height of 12 metres above sea level collapsed.
