Karnataka History Congress from today

MYSORE: The 16th session of the Karnataka History Congress will be held in Mysore from May 20 to 22.

Nearly 600 historians from throughout the State are expected to participate in it.

The three-day conference will highlight the latest developments and research in the field of historiography. Historians will discuss ancient, medieval and modern history, including socio-economic history.

R. Rajanna, local Secretary of the congress, told presspersons here on Thursday that more than 200 papers on Karnataka History will be presented during the conference.

S. Shettar, eminent historian and Director, India Gandhi Centre for Arts, Southern Centre, Bangalore, will release the proceedings of the 15th session, "Studies in Karnataka History and Culture".

The Minister for Higher Education, D. Manjunath, will inaugurate the conference at 11.30 a.m. at the University College of Fine Arts for Women, Manasagangotri. J. Shashidhar Prasad, Vice-Chancellor, University of Mysore, will preside over the function.
