Conservation plan soon for 23 tanks in Tumkur

TUMKUR:
G. Parameshwara, Madhugiri MLA and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee Vice-President, said here on Thursday that the Chief Minister, N. Dharam Singh, has ordered conservation of 23 major tanks in Tumkur.
Dr. Parameshwara told presspersons that he met Mr. Singh in Bangalore on May 9 and apprised him of the importance of conserving tanks. He said Mr. Singh directed the Revenue Commissioner to ask the Deputy Commissioner to take steps to safeguard 23 major tanks in the city, including the Baddihalli tank and the Tumkur Amanikere. Dr. Parameshwara said the Revenue Commissioner is likely to issue orders in three days. The tanks will be fenced to prevent encroachments. Wastewater flowing into the tanks will be diverted.
