AICC names 17 DCC chiefs

Confusion prevails over Guntur district nominee

HYDERABAD: The All-India Congress Committee today announced the names of presidents of 17 District Congress Committees.

It also announced the appointment of Chilakaluripet MLA, Marri Rajashekhar, as Guntur DCC president. But, this was later kept in abeyance since Mr. Rajashekhar was elected as an independent.

He will face possible disqualification in case he takes formal membership of the Congress of which he is an associate member now, party sources said.

A press release issued by the Pradesh Returning Officer, G. S. Basavaraj, said the APCC would soon announce the names of office-bearers and executive committee members as authorised by the DCC delegates.

The following is the list of DCC presidents:

Srikakulam - Satyavati MLA, Vizianagaram - Ravi Babu, MLA, Visakhapatnam - Gandi Babji, MLA, East Godavari, T. Narasimham, MLA, West Godavari - I. Ramakrishnam Raju, Krishna - Segu Venkateswarlu, Prakasam - G. V. Seshu, Nellore - Gopal Reddy, Chittoor - M. Sudhakar, Cuddapah - Amarnath Reddy, Kurnool -Raghurami Reddy, Kurnool City - Fouzia Begum, Medak - Suresh Shetkar, MLA, Karimnagar Santosh Kumar, Warangal - G.Venkatramana Reddy, Warangal City - Manda Vinod and Adilabad - Ravinder Rao.

At a later date

The presidents of ten other DCCs -- Vizag City, Anantapur, Vijayawada City, Guntur City, Khammam, Nizamabad, Rangareddy district, Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar and Hyderabad -- will be announced later.
