AJMER: A day after Amethi MP, Rahul Gandhi, charged the Uttar Pradesh government with neglecting his parliamentary constituency, Samajwadi Party General Secretary, Amar Singh, today challenged the Congress to withdraw support to the Mulayam Singh-led government. ``If Mr. Rahul Gandhi is so unhappy with us, let the Congress withdraw support to the Mulayam Singh government,'' the Samajwadi Party (SP) leader said while speaking to reporters here. Accusing Mr. Gandhi of making ``irresponsible statements'', Mr. Singh argued that had it not been for the SP, the BJP would not have been reduced to ten seats in the Lok Sabha from the State and the Congress would have failed in forming the government at the Centre. He quipped that ``perhaps'' Mr Gandhi was not competent enough to fully understand the SP's role in this regard. Expressing unhappiness over Mr. Gandhi's remarks on the law and order situation in UP, Mr. Singh pointed out that crime against women and the aged was on the rise in Delhi, ``right under the nose of the UPA government''. Mr. Singh was here to offer prayers at the `Dargah' of Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chisti. Actor Abhishek Bachchan accompanied him on the trip.- UNI
