KHAMMAM: : The Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M) will organise `Prajahita Padayatra' in the town from May 22 to 31. he padayatra is aimed at taking stock of the civic problems and helping people to get them resolved by mounting pressure on the municipal administration. The district secretary of the Party, T.S. Prasad, and the town committee leaders will lead the padayatra. The Party central committee member, Thammineni Veerabhadram, will flag off the yatra on Sunday from the grain market. Releasing the Padayatra posters at a press conference here on Thursday, he said the yatra was being organised as part of the statewide exercise to list out the problems confronted by the people in towns. He said the Party was successful in organising a 100-day long Mahaprasthanam padayatra in the district last year. The Prajahita Padayatra would be organised on the same lines. He said the party had already taken up a study of the civic problems in the town.
Top priority for water
Issues such as drinking water, housing and sanitation would be given due importance. They would be taken up with the officers concerned, with a representation for prompt response. The party also observed the 20th death anniversary of Puchalapallli Sundaraiah. Addressing a meeting near the grain market, the Bhadrachalam MP, M. Babu Rao, said that Sundaraiah had devoted his life for the rights of workers. Rich tributes were paid to him on the occasion.
