MANGALORE: Two persons died and seven were injured when an oil tanker collided with a sports utility vehicle in which the victims were travelling near Mani on Bangalore-Mangalore National Highway 48 in the early hours of Thursday. The police gave the names of the victims as Kusumakar (45) and Suresh of Mangalore, said to be employees of Mangalore Urban Development Authority. In all, nine persons were returning to Mangalore from Bangalore after attending a marriage there. Those injured include Sadashiva, Rajshekar, Shesha, Krishna, Satyendra, Nagaraj and Sukesh, driver of the vehicle, of Mangalore. They have been admitted to private hospital here for treatment. The Vittla Police have registered a case.

A man committed suicide by hanging himself to death from a tree at Adamkudru in Jeppinamogaru village in the Ullal Police Station limits on Thursday. The police said the victim said to be mentally unsound was aged 40 years. They found a card in his person that read Sanna Yoganna, Channarayapatna. The police are not sure if it belonged to him. The body has been kept at the mortuary of District Government Wenlock Hospital. Details can be had from Ullal Police on Ph: 0824-2466269.
