Woman sets husband ablaze
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD:
A worker in a chips shop was burnt to death allegedly by his wife late on Wednesday night following a monetary dispute at Musheerabad.
Maheswaram Raju (27) was fast asleep on the terrace outside his single-room rented pent house in Ramnagar when his wife, Suvarna (25), reportedly doused him with kerosene around 2 a.m. After setting him afire, she ran inside the room where her two daughters - Anoosha and Shirisha -- were sleeping and bolted from inside.
Neighbours woke up to the screams of Raju and poured water on him. By then, he suffered 70 per cent burns. When Suvarna refused to come out, they forcibly opened the door.
After battling for life at Gandhi Hospital, Raju died at 9 a.m. on Thursday while undergoing treatment.
