CHENNAI: The Tami Nadu Congress Committee president, G.K.Vasan, had a 20- minute meeting with the All-India Congress Committee president, Sonia Gandhi, in New Delhi on Friday. During the brief meeting, Ms. Sonia Gandhi is reported to have had a detailed discussion on party affairs in the State. She instructed the TNCC chief to work for strengthening the existing Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) in the State. With the assembly election in Tamil Nadu due by May next year, she wanted every attempt to be made for popularising various Central schemes being implemented in the State. As per her instructions, Mr.Vasan said the TNCC would organise a week-long programme in the State to explain the welfare measures undertaken by the Centre for the people.
