IICT employee

ends life

A research assistant of Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Lavanya, 25, committed suicide by hanging in her house at Lingampally in Kachiguda on Thursday night.

The Kachiguda police booked a case under section 304-B (dowry death) of IPC following a complaint by the victim's parents accusing her husband and mother-in-law of forcing to bring more money.

Worker dies

in attack

A contract worker of MCH, Laxman, has died when his friend Ganesh alias Laddu allegedly attacked him with a stick in an inebriated condition at Rajendranagar.

A resident of Langerhouse, Laxman reportedly went to a bar in Puranapool on Thursday night and consumed liquor with his friends -- Ganesh and Younus. Ganesh urged Laxman to pay the loan he had taken from him some time ago. This led to an argument between the two and a scuffle ensued. Ganesh allegedly beat up the victim and later dumped him at a secluded place on the Attapur road. Passers-by shifted the seriously injured Laxman to Osmania General Hospital on Friday where he died, according to the police.

Cheating case

The Reinbazar police on Friday `suo moto' booked a case against an alleged sorcerer Amil under whose care a widow Banu Bee died two days ago.

According to the Inspector, M. Malla Reddy, locals of Esroffnagar complained that the man in question had been cheating people in the name of curing their disease.
