Nominated to Board of Trustees of TPT

TIRUNELVELI: The former chairman of Palayamkottai Municipal Council, Suba Seetharaman, has been nominated as one of the members of Board of Trustees of Tuticorin Port Trust.

In the gazette released by the Union Government on May 4, it was mentioned that Mr. Suba Seetharaman would be representing the "Other Interests" category under sub-clause (1) of the clause (c) of sub-section (1) of Section 3 of Major Ports Trusts Act 1963.

An advocate by profession, Mr. Suba Seetharaman was elected as the chairman of Palayamkottai Municipality for the term 1986 - 1991 after unsuccessfully contesting from the Palayamkottai Assembly constituency as the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate.

He also served as the president of Palayamkottai Urban Co-operative Bank and secretary of Tamil Nadu State Federation of Urban Co-operative Bank.

Mr. Suba Seetharaman, DMK presidium chairman of the district, is the Zonal Chairman (southern states) of National Union of Backward Classes, SC, ST and Minorities, New Delhi.
