ERODE: A Rs. 1.1-crore multipurpose indoor stadium has been constructed at the Bharathy Vidya Bhavan Matric HSS, Thindal, here, said the Correspondent of the school, L.M. Ramakrishnan, on Saturday. The stadium was constructed using the funds of the school, he said. The stadium had a wooden count for basketball, volleyball, shuttle badminton and table tennis. It could seat 2,500 people and arrangements were on to accommodate 700 sports persons. The school also had a modern swimming pool. He said that 35 girls accommodated at the Erode District Sports Hostel were transferred to the school for basketball coaching. The girls were trained every day under a special coach. Coaches for all games were deployed at the stadium to train students of the school.
