Muthunayagam, Chairman, Chennai IIT

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
A. E. Muthunayagam, Executive Vice-President, Kerala State Council for Science Technology and Environment, has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai.
Dr. Muthunayagam, a former space scientist, will hold office for three years. He has been appointed under Section 11 of the IIT Act of 1961, which lays down the composition of the Board of Governors for each of the seven IITs across the country.
Dr. Muthunayagam was formerly Secretary in the Department of Ocean Development. He was also Director of the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre, Valliamala, under the ISRO. Dr. Muthunayagam recently took over as Executive Vice-President of the Kerala Council for Science, Technology and Environment, from Dr. M. S. Valliathan.
