CHENNAI: Fifteen-year old Raunaq of Gujarat scored a surprise victory over M.C. Manoj of MCC 15-80, 70-38, 73-44, 59-44, 62-54 in Group B of the MCC invitation snooker tournament at the MCC premises here on Saturday. The youngster made a shaky start, but found his touch soon to wrap up the match.
Easy wins
All in-form local stalwarts recorded comfortable victories to lead in their respective groups. Two Southern Railway players, Rafath Habib and Antim Singhi, notched up their second wins in Group C and D respectively. Rafath was not at his best today and made breaks of 36 and 24, but still there was no threat for him from Sandeep Samuel (MCC) who lost concentration. Rafath scored a 70-34, 57-35, 53-28, 63-15 victory over Sandeep. Wasim Ahmed got off to a good start with a 70 score, though there was no big break. But Antim put pressure on him. Eventually Antim won 25-70, 47-19, 69-28, 76-20, 72-62. S.A. Saleem in Group A and Siddharth Rao in Group B also have recorded two wins in their groups. Other results: Gr.
