MYSORE: A 39-year-old lineman of Mangalore Electricity Supply Company Ltd. (MESCOM) was electrocuted to death when he was repairing a cable at a level crossing near Crawford Hall on Saturday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Parashuram Jatappa. His colleague Lokesh, 33, who was assisting Jatappa, also suffered burns, and has been admitted to hospital. Jatappa's colleagues kept his body in front of the office of MESCOM on Harsha Road and staged a protest. They demanded compensation for the victim's family and action against officials whose negligence, the protesters said, caused the death of Jatappa. They dispersed after officials announced the suspension of an Assistant Engineer pending inquiry.
