Power cut

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended on Monday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. for maintenance work in parts of Santhome and Valasaravakkam areas.

Placement centre

Nandini Voice for the Deprived, an organisation working for uplift of the poor, has started a placement centre for the underprivileged. Persons with family income of less than Rs. 3,000 a month could register at the centre. The organisation has also invited employers to contact the centre to get names and addresses of the prospective employees. This way, the organisation said, it would ensure that the unemployed youth could find a job appropriate to their qualification and skill level.

It has already been providing free computer training to poor students who have passed Plus-Two examination and organising exhibition-cum-sale of products made by disabled persons.

Creativity camp

Rahnu Cartoon Research and Educational Trust will conduct a creativity camp at Sri Venugopal Vidyalaya Higher Secondary School, Sringeri Mutt Road, Mandaveli, between 10 a.m. and 12 noon for children between six and 18 years of age. Details on Tel: 2464 0487, 94442 48579.

New premises for library

Roja Muthiah Research Library has been shifted from Mogappair to Central Polytechnic Campus in Taramani. It is now located on Third Cross Road, Central Polytechnic Campus, Taramani. The library, open to researchers for accessing research imprints in Tamil and English related to South Indian studies, can be contacted at Tel: 2254 2551, email: rmrl@dataone.in. It remains open between 9.30 a.m. and 5 p.m. from Monday to Saturday, with second Saturdays being holidays.

Yoga classes

The Swami Satyananda Yoga Vidya Ashram will organise yoga classes by Sanyasi Krishnayogam for a month beginning Sunday at Bala Vidya Higher Secondary School, Vasudevapuram, West Mambalam.
