CHENNAI: The Government Railway Police at the Central Railway Station arrested a travelling ticket examiner (TTE) on Saturday on charges of attacking a defence personnel who came to board a train at the station on Friday. According to the police, Sivanandam came to the station to board Grand Trunk Express to go to Jhansi on Friday. The ticket examiner, Selvakumar, checked Mr. Sivanandam's baggage and told him that he was carrying excess luggage. He wanted Mr. Sivanandam to pay for the excess luggage. An argument erupted between the two and in the melee Mr. Selvakumar allegedly attacked Mr. Sivanandam. Mr. Sivanandam was admitted to the Government General Hospital. Later he preferred a complaint with the police.
Cases booked
Cases under Sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons) and 506 ii (criminal intimidation) were filed against the ticket examiner, the police said.
