HYDERABAD: The case booked against senior IAS officer, Shalini Mishra, by the police of Toopran in Medak district under provisions of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act is being dropped. The Director- General of Police, Swaranjit Sen, told reporters here on Saturday that the police had submitted the final report to the court that the case might be closed for lack of evidence. The case against Ms. Mishra was booked in March last following a complaint by a tribal, Laxman Naik, that she had got him beaten up by the police on the charge of selling babies to an accused in a child adoption racket. Ms. Mishra was Director, Women and Child Welfare, when the alleged incident occurred..
