Keshava assails EC decision

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The APCC president, K. Keshava Rao, has deplored the decision of the Election Commission (EC) to appoint an Inspector-General to supervise law and order situation in Penukonda till completion of the byelection.

Talking to reporters here on Saturday, he said that the EC decision was unwarranted as the Rayalaseema IG, R.P. Meena, was doing a good job.

The TDP was bent upon creating tension in Penukonda so that peace-loving voters could keep away from polling booths on the day of polling, he said.

Similarly, the EC's order to shift Maddelecheruvu Suryanarayana Reddy alias Suri from Anantapur jail was uncalled for. If the EC believed that any person could create law and order problems in a constituency despite being jailed, it perhaps reflected more on its ignorance, he noted.
