GUNTUR: The district administration is planning to celebrate this year's Buddha Purnima on a large scale in view of the oncoming Kalachakra festival to be organised at Amaravathi from January 3, according to the district Collector, Jayalakshmi. Speaking to reporters here on Friday she said that it would be a two-day event, beginning Sunday. A seminar on Buddhism would be organised in the morning, to be conducted at a prominent Buddhist stupa. A meditation programme and cultural activities on the life and activities of the Buddha would also be organised the same day. On Buddha Purnima day on Monday, floral tributes would be paid to Buddha at the district museum. Competitions would be conducted for children in essay writing, elocution and painting. The grand finale for the day would be a kavi sammelan, according to the Collector.
