BANGALORE: Three persons, including two policemen from Tamil Nadu, were killed and four injured when the multi-utility vehicle by which they were travelling rammed a stationary lorry here on Saturday. The police said that around 3 a.m. the driver of the vehicle rammed a lorry with Haryana registration that was parked on the Outer Ring Road in Marathalli, off Innovative multiplex, in HAL police station limits. The names of the dead were given as V.K.N. Dorai (47), Inspector of the Vaniyampadi town police station in Vellore district, Lakshmikanthan (45), a head constable attached to the same station, and Pashupathi (45), driver of the vehicle. A head constable Ravi Gandhi and three others, Nagaraj, Umapathi and Radhakrishna, were seriously injured and have been admitted to a hospital on Airport Road. They are said to be out of danger. The Tamil Nadu police had come here on May 18 to investigate a case they had registered under the Copyright Act. Along with the local Hennur police, they had gone to Chikkaballapur in Kolar district, some 50 km from here, on Friday and seized huge quantity of casing pipes used for borewells, the police said. Mr. Dorai and his team were escorting four lorries in which the seized pipes were being transported to Vaniyampadi. After autopsy at the Bowring Hospital, the bodies were handed over to the relatives of the dead who had come from Tamil Nadu, the police said.
