CA's house burgled

BANGALORE: Thieves broke into a chartered accountant's house in Vijayanagar police station limits and made away with silver articles worth Rs. 1.50 lakhs and Rs. 80,000 in cash.

The theft took place between May 10 and 20 when the chartered accountant Radha Naik, a resident of 2nd "C" Main, M.C. Layout, had been to Kumta in Uttara Kannada district. The theft came to light after she returned on Friday, the police said.

The thieves entered the house by breaking open the door in the terrace. On a complaint by Radha Naik, the Vijayanagar police have registered a case.

Ends life

Sabeena Begum (25), a mother of two children, committed suicide by hanging herself at her house at Mavalli in Kalasipalya police station limits on May 18.

According to a complaint lodged with the police by her father, Ameer Jan, she committed suicide as her husband, Mastan, a carpenter, tortured her for more dowry. The Kalasipalya police have registered a case.

Falls to death

Manoj Maitran (40), an employee of a leading communication agency, died after he fell from the third floor of an apartment complex on St. Mark's Road in the early hours of Saturday. The police suspect it to be an accident. The Cubbon Park police have registered a case.
