Chennai: World champion Pankaj Advani from Bangalore wasn't at his best but still managed to score two victories in Group B of the MCC invitation snooker tournament at the MCC premises here on Sunday. Pankaj outplayed the 15-year-old Raunaq of Gujarat 119-7, 95-4, 78-16, 77-16 in the morning session and got the better of M.C. Manoj (MCC) 87-43, 75-20, 62-6, 106-0 in the evening. Though he had it fairly easy against the Gujarat player he conceded 12 points through three fouls, pocketing the cue ball twice and miscuing once, against Manoj in the first frame. He looked out of sorts in the beginning. But he picked up his game quickly with a break of 50 in the second frame and 55 in the third before accumulating a big score of 106 in the fourth frame, aided by a 62 break. However, Manan Chandra of Delhi and Aditya Mehta of Maharashtra recorded comfortable victories, Manan taking just 35 minutes to wrap up the tie against Wasim Ahmed with good breaks of 87 and 57.
