Exhibition on higher studies in Russia

NEW DELHI: Aimed at disseminating up-to-date information and providing proper counselling to students and their parents, an eight-member high-level delegation, comprising professors, experts and chiefs of faculties drawn from different medical and polytechnic universities, state aviation and power engineering institutes from Russia is here on a 13-day visit to the country. An "Exhibition on Higher Studies in Russia" will be held at the Russian Centre of Science & Culture (RCSC) premises here on May 30 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Besides Delhi, the delegation will visit major cities like Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai and Cochin.

`Keep a tab on blood pressure'

NEW DELHI: "People should keep their blood pressure lower than 120/80 mmHg irrespective of age,'' said K K Aggarwal, president of the Delhi Medical Association and the Heart Care Foundation of India (HCFI) at a seminar organised by DMA Academy of Medical Specialties here over the weekend.

Dr. Aggarwal said high blood pressure patients should take special precautions during the summer season. Loss of sodium and potassium and resultant dehydration due to intense heat if not cured can increase the viscosity of blood and precipitate heart attack and paralysis in patients with uncontrolled high blood pressure, he added.

Value added courses

NEW DELHI: The Ansal Institute of Technology (AIT), Gurgaon, is offering value added courses during June-July to new students enrolled for the academic session starting in August 2005. These courses are offered to students being admitted to Programmes leading to undergraduate degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Retail Management and Mass Communication and to post-graduate degree such as MBA, MS (Information System) and MS (Computer Science)

IGNOU last date

NEW DELHI: The last date for submission of applications for the management programmes of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) would be May 31, the Director of School of Management Studies at the university, B.B. Khanna, said here over the weekend.

The entrance test for the various degree and diploma programmes in management, starting January and July next year, would be held on August 7 at nearly 160 centres nation-wide. The management courses of IGNOU include Master of Business Management (MBA), PG Diploma in Management (PGDIM), PG Diploma in Financial Management (PGDFM) and Diploma in Management (DIM) among others.
