Tata International forays into China

Aimed at launching new products

MUMBAI: The leather business of Tata International Ltd. has opened up its new marketing office and leather showroom in Dong Guan, China.

Dong Guan province is the hub for footwear exports out of China. The city accounts for 60 per cent of the total footwear exports from China and has acquired the status of the new footwear capital of the world.

Global footwear brands based out of the U.S. and Europe, which are the primary customers for the finished leather business of Tata International, source their shoes from Dong Guan, which is the reason Tata International has set up its showroom and marketing office in Dong Guan.

The company has a marketing infrastructure, finished leather manufacturing set up and manufacturing bases for footwear in this reason which contributes to around $50 million of its annual turnover.

The showroom will be aimed at systemically launching new products in line with the changing season and fashion cycle, showcasing its product range for shoe designers and line builders. The office will also focus on business development in new customer segments building customer relationship and providing after sales support.
