PONDICHERRY: Chief Minister, N. Rangasamy, has said that his government has given priority in tackling unemployment and to relieve the youth of agony of joblessness. Addressing a meeting of the staff and officers of the Pondicherry Government run Anglo- French Textiles meeting here on Sunday, the Chief Minister said that ever since his government assumed office in 2001, more than 11,000 youth had been offered jobs in government departments here. (The coordinating committee of the Union of Staff and Officials of the AFT mill held a meeting to thank the Chief Minister for implementing the enhanced pay structure for them in keeping with the report of Fifth Pay Commission). The Chief Minister said that he was keen that the demands of the government staff, and employees should be settled without delay as unless the government staff were kept in good humour they would not be able to concentrate on their work. He said with the cooperation of the people his government had been able to fulfil a big chunk of promises extended to the people.
