ERODE: On the orders of the District Collector, D. Karthikeyan, a high-level team consisting of Labour Welfare Department, Panchayat Development and Education Department officials conducted intensive raids in various industries, institutions and other work spots in the district. The officials rescued two child labourers working in brick kilns at Chikkanapuram and Dharapuram on Sunday. They also rescued two more child labourers from a welding workshop at Melapalayam near Chennimalai. They also rescued a boy from a powerloom factory in the same area. Mr. Karthikeyan said that the children were sent to their parents and they would be admitted in the special school run by the Labour Welfare Department.
