Civic staff union State meeting from Thursday

CITU secretary to open event

ALAPPUZHA: The 38th State conference of the Kerala Municipal and Corporation Staff Union will be held at T.K. Balan Nagar (Iswarya Auditorium) here on May 26, 27 and 28.

The CITU all-India secretary, W.R. Varadarajan, will inaugurate the meeting on May 26 at 10.30 a.m., said the reception committee chairman, K.S. Manoj, MP.

The delegates meeting would begin at 12.30 p.m. on the day. A seminar on the challenges faced by the local bodies would be held on May 27 at 11 a.m.

The CITU State general secretary, P.K. Gurudasan, would inaugurate the trade union meeting at 5.30 p.m.

C.S. Sujata, MP, will inaugurate the valedictory meeting on May 28 at 10.30 a.m.

The State general secretary of the union, C.J. Thomas, said that some of the recent decisions of the Government had adversely affected the municipalities and corporations in the State.

The lowering of entertainment tax of cinema theatreshad affected civic bodies, he said.
